The short version
- What you put in a space is shared with the people in that space. That is what Rig is for.
- Your agents run on your computer under your own Claude or Codex account. Rig does not sit between you and them.
- Some Rig features use AI providers to summarize, sort and route what happens in your spaces. We list them below.
- We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
- You can turn off usage data in Settings, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time.
What we collect
Your account
When you sign in, our sign-in provider, Clerk, gives us your email address, name and profile picture. We store your email address and an account id. Your name and picture are fetched from Clerk when Rig needs to show them.
What you put in your spaces
A space syncs through our servers so everyone in it sees the same thing. For each space we store:
- its files and every saved version of them, with who changed what and when;
- chat messages, comments, reactions, pins on pages, and files you attach;
- its members and their roles, invites you send, including the email addresses you invite, and links you share;
- the topics Rig sorts the chat into, and the summaries it writes.
What your agents do in a space
When you ask an agent to do something in a space, we store your request, the run’s title, model and status, and as much of the agent’s work as you choose to share. Each space has a setting for what others see of your agent’s work: only the answer, the steps it took and the changes it made to files in the space, or everything. Your computer applies that setting before anything is uploaded. Your request is a chat message like any other. The copy we keep to deliver it to your other computers is erased once the request is finished.
Your devices
For each computer that syncs a space we keep its name, as set in your computer’s settings, so you can tell your computers apart, and when it last checked in. If you use Rig on more than one computer, we also note which one you last used Rig on and which agents each one has, so your agent runs there and notifications show there. Rig tells your computers apart by a random id it makes when installed. We don’t collect your computer’s serial number or location.
Usage data
If “Share anonymous usage data” is on, the app sends us counts of how it is used: when it starts and closes, daily use, which kinds of actions you take, like starting an agent or sending an invite, and the type of any error. Each event carries a random install id, a random id for that session, the app version and your operating system. It never includes the contents of your files or chats. This setting is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy.
Error reports
When something goes wrong in the app, it sends us an error report: what went wrong, where in Rig’s code it happened, and the versions of the app and of your agents. Error reports never include your files, messages or prompts. Like usage data they are anonymous and not tied to your account. They are on by default, and you can turn them off in Settings › Privacy.
Problem reports
When you use Report a problem in the app, nothing is sent until you press Send. The report then includes what you wrote, your account, the versions of the app and your agents, the sync status of your spaces, and the app’s recent log with passwords and other secrets removed. We keep it to help fix the problem, and delete it with your account.
Our website
When you download Rig we count the download, the version, the platform and the site that sent you. If you sign in on userig.xyz, our sign-in provider sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Network information
Our servers use your IP address for a short time to protect against abuse, for example by limiting how many requests one address can make. We don’t store it with your account. Our hosting providers may keep it in their logs for a short period.
What stays on your computer
- Your agents.Claude Code, Codex and other agents run on your computer and talk to their own providers under your own accounts. Their providers’ terms and privacy policies apply to that traffic.
- Connected tools.When you connect a tool such as Linear or Notion, its sign-in is encrypted with your computer’s keychain and only given to agents running on your computer. We never receive it. A space only records which tools were added to it.
- Page sign-ins.When you ask Rig to sign a page in, it copies that site’s sign-in from your browser into Rig on your computer. It is not sent to us.
- Settings and caches.Your settings and a copy of your spaces’ recent messages, so they open quickly, are kept on your computer.
Anything you or your agents write into a space, including files you import from elsewhere such as a Google Doc, is synced like the rest of the space.
How we use it
- to run Rig: syncing your spaces, showing them to their members, and sending invites and notifications;
- to provide Rig’s AI features, described in the next section;
- to keep Rig secure and stop abuse;
- to understand how Rig is used and improve it, from usage data;
- to contact you about your account or important changes to Rig.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
AI features and the providers behind them
Some of Rig’s own features send content from your spaces to an AI provider:
- Summaries and Ask, the briefing on Home and the answers to questions about your spaces, use Anthropic. They receive chat messages, summaries of agent work, which files changed, and the names of people and spaces involved.
- Topics, which sorts a space’s chat into what people are talking about, uses Anthropic and TypeSafe. They receive the chat messages and agent answers being sorted.
- Routing and previews, which decides which agent a message is for and previews what will happen while you type, uses TypeSafe. It receives the members and agents in the space, recent messages, and the message you are writing. Previews of unsent messages are not stored.
We send this content only to provide these features. These providers handle it under their own terms. Where they let us choose, we use settings that limit how long they keep it and stop them from using it to train their models. We don’t use your content to train AI models of our own.
Who we share it with
- The people in your spaces.Members see what’s in a space they belong to. Anyone with a link you share can see the file it points to.
- Service providers who run parts of Rig for us: Clerk for sign-in, Fly.io and Neon for our servers and database, Cloudflare for file storage, our website and download counts, Resend for invite emails, and Anthropic and TypeSafe for the AI features above. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
- If Rig Labs is sold or merged, with the new owner, who must keep this policy’s promises or tell you first.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your spaces for as long as you use Rig, with these limits:
- Older versions of a file are thinned out: we keep every version from the last week, one an hour for 90 days, and one a day after that.
- After 90 days, the details of an agent’s run move to an archive. The answer stays in the space.
- Notifications are removed after 30 days.
- When you hide a run’s details, they are deleted.
- When you leave a space, what you wrote stays with it, and your finished agent runs there keep only their answers.
When you delete a space, it disappears for everyone straight away, and its contents are removed from our servers 7 days later.
You can delete your account in the Rig app, from Settings › Account, or by writing to contact@userig.xyz. You are signed out everywhere at once, and you have 7 days to change your mind by signing back in. After that we delete your account information and the spaces only you belong to. Spaces you share with others are handed to another member. What you wrote in them stays, shown as written by a former member, so the rest of the space keeps making sense. Ask us if you want it removed too.
Your choices and rights
- Turn usage data on or off in Settings › Privacy.
- Turn error reports on or off in Settings › Privacy.
- Choose what others see of your agent’s work, for each space.
- Leave a space, or remove a space you own.
- Delete your account from Settings › Account.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to contact@userig.xyz.
Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, you may have further rights, such as to object to how we use your information or to complain to your data protection authority. We will answer any request within 30 days, and we won’t treat you differently for making one.
Security
Everything between your computer and our servers is encrypted in transit. Our database only lets each person read the spaces they belong to. We store sign-in tokens and invite secrets as one-way hashes, and file uploads and downloads use links that expire within minutes. No system is perfectly secure, so if you find a problem, please tell us at contact@userig.xyz.
Where your data is
Rig’s servers are in the United States. If you use Rig from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States. When we move information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the safeguards the law recognizes for it, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Children
Rig is not meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, write to contact@userig.xyz and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
